How to choose
Choosing Hand Saws at the bench
Pick the length by the cut
A 6 in blade suits dowels, trim and small joints. A 10 in blade suits boards and long cuts.
Read the TPI
More teeth per inch means a slower, smoother cut. Fewer teeth clear wood faster and leave a rougher face.
Mind the job
Ryoba saws are for wood. The multi-blade saw handles drywall and branches. The 12 TPI saw is for bone.
Teeth per inch
Saws by the tooth
The drawing shows one inch of each tooth pattern at the same scale. More teeth in the inch means a finer, slower cut.
