What it does
The Model Nippers RM1.0 / RM3.0, in three points
One blade, one anvil
The single edge passes through the plastic and stops on a flat jaw, so the cut face stays smooth.
RM1.0 or RM3.0
RM1.0 in purple is the starter. RM3.0 in orange has a thinner, hand-sharpened blade with more curve.
Built-in limits
A limiting lever stops the jaws opening too far, a lock guards against too much force, and a spring reopens them.

At the bench
Ordinary side cutters pinch plastic from both sides and leave a pale crushed spot. A single-blade nipper cuts like a knife on a board. Clip the part off the runner with a little gate left on, then trim the nub flush. Both models are 4.7 in long and weigh 1.83 oz, light enough for a long build. The RM3.0 blade curves more, which helps reach small parts from an angle.
Check before you buy
- You build plastic kits such as Gunpla.
- RM1.0 for a first pair, RM3.0 for a finer cut.
- You have another cutter for thick runners and metal.
Limits
Pick another one if
The thin blade is the weak point. It is for model plastic only, and wire, metal or thick clear parts will chip it. Start with RM1.0 if this is your first pair. Move to RM3.0 when you want a cleaner trim and already cut with a light hand. For final trimming there is also RM5.0.

Great nippers, could be more durable
For the price you can NOT go wrong with these nippers. They cut cleanly, can remove mold lines, are comfortable, and are very high quality for the priceHowever, the metal is very malleable and I do not recommend using these for ANYTHING except injection molded plastic (games workshop, tamiya, etc.) as even gently gripping another metal (glue nozzle for citadel glue) slightly dents the blade.Aside from the sub-stellar durability, these are AMAZING nippers. I recommend you use these and buy expensive professional ones in the future when these wear out.Overall 9/10.
My favorite model nippers!
Excellent nippers at a very reasonable price. These give me the smoothest, cleanest cuts of any model nippers I've ever owned. I AM very careful not to attempt to use these to cut sprues that are too thick and you can usually tell when you're risking damage to them by trying to use the wrong nipper for the wrong job. I would definitely buy these again should my current set become dull. Well made, and comes with a nice little leather sleeve to store it in ( which I DO use!). Great nippers for the money!
Questions
Model Nippers RM1.0 / RM3.0: answers
What is the difference between RM1.0 and RM3.0?
RM1.0 is the beginner model. RM3.0 has a thinner blade sharpened by hand and a more curved blade angle for small parts.
Why a single blade?
One blade cutting against a flat jaw leaves a smoother face on the part and less whitening than two blades pinching.
Can I cut metal with them?
No. They are for plastic model parts.
