What it does
The 6 in nylon base rides the panel face and follows gentle curves.
Two grooves ease the sharp corner of the banding after trimming.
The 5Cr15MoV stainless blade can be honed when it dulls.
Iron-on banding always overhangs the panel a little. This tool takes the overhang off. Set the base flat on the face, push in one direction and let the blade slice the excess. Then run the corner through the R1.5 or R2 groove to soften it. The body weighs 190.5 g, which keeps it planted. On veneer, cut with the grain.
Limits
It is our lowest-rated tool at 3.8 out of 5, and the reviews below explain why some buyers struggled. It trims banding only. It will not cut solid wood edging, laminate or a countertop. On thick or hard tape, take several light passes. Forcing one cut tears the band.

This made trimming my PVC banding a lot easier. I had bought a couple other trimmers which were more difficult and had troubles cutting the 2mm banding I had bought. This trimmer was sharp enough to cut through the banding and it was easy to handle. The size of it is fine. It worked really well. The design allows for it to trim flush. Due to the design and with the blade being only one one end, you have to band your pieces before assembly otherwise it will not allow you to trim all corners (I had build a cabinet box and assembled it first and then banded). I lost my first one and had no second thoughts about buying this again.
I have 50+ years experience as a cabinet maker. The tool has a small learning curve but works extremely well after using it for a bit.
This only cuts in one direction. Which means the ends have to trimmed with another tool. It works pretty good. But it seemed to dull after a few edges and it wouldn't always cut perfectly flush. Maybe because it is so wide (5") that it bridges over slight warps in the board. I had to clean it up all its failures with the $7.99 edge trimmer that works so much better I quit using this one all together and went back to the $7.99 trimmer which is small easy to maneuver and cuts both directions also it comes with a spare blade. Get that one. It does a much better job at a third the price.
No instructions, there is a razor blade on one side only. You cannot start the trimmer on the 3nd of the strip, because it needs a flat surface to rest on. Also, the blade easily cuts into the hardwood veneer of the plywood, totally ruining the image of a solid piece of wood, so it negates the purpose of edge banding altogether. I had better luck flipping the wood upside down and using a box cutting tool to cut off excess, then sanding off the edges. Not worth the money.
