What it does
The small collar takes bits from 5/64 to 3/16 in. The large one takes 15/64 to 7/16 in.
The collar closes on a nylon ring, so it holds without scoring the flutes.
The collars are metal and knurled for grip.
Drilling for dowels or shelf pins needs every hole the same depth. Slide a collar onto the bit, set the gap from the tip and twist it tight. The collar meets the surface and the bit stops. Because the grip is a collet and not a screw, it centers itself and comes off without a hex key. Two collars cover most bits in a home set.
Limits
There is a gap in the range. Bits between 3/16 and 15/64 in fit neither collar. The large collar is also long, and the maker advises against bits shorter than 9.5 cm with it. The collar face spins against the wood when it lands, so stop the drill as it touches.

I've used these depth stops several times with different sized drill bits and they work really well. They are simple to use and with a little bit of a twist to tighten them, they hold their position perfectly. One thing to note is that the internal components are plastic so you need to be careful about not letting the drill bit overheat or it will probably cause the depth stop to slip or even permanently damage the plastic parts. Also the wood shavings can get packed in around the drill bit, which could cause an error in the depth. I just make sure it's clean prior to drilling each hole.
These are great drill stops. They aren't perfect and have limitations on drill sizes accommodated. But for most applications needing an easily setup, adjusted and used tool this is the ticket. My opinion is WOW! These are great. My only wish is that this was a set of 4. A super small stop for very small drill bits (1mm and smaller) and an extra-large for really large bits (3/8" and larger). But overall, when I need a drill stop for most common needs, I use these. All my other depth stops just sit in my tool chest unused. This meets 98% of my drill stop needs.
As you may know, I only do a review of i am very impressed or very disappointed. Sadly, here's i am very disappointed. While using these any amount of pressure and the stop slips, not doing is job at all. So just tighten them you day. No matter how tight i made them, they slip. Add to that, with a bit too much tightening, the plastic inside holding the bit breaks making the whole thing more useless than it was.Verdict: do not buy. Get one that works.
I never liked the ring style that uses a set screw on the to attach to the bit. The best way to use this tool is to separate the two halves, remove the plastic piece and insert it over the smooth end of the bit with the flutes completely exposed then reassemble and loosely thread male and female halves together. Next. set the depth by pushing the bit into the fixture. Once you get the desired depth, tighten the two halves together. It works perfectly.
Questions
The small collar fits 5/64 to 3/16 in bits and the large collar fits 15/64 to 7/16 in bits.
No. They tighten by hand on a nylon inner ring.
It can if it keeps spinning against the surface. Stop as soon as it touches.
